Each of the books I read in December, organized by mood. I’ve linked my more in-depth reviews wherever possible!
- For a beautifully written YA novel about grief, anxiety, sexuality, and so much more: We Are Okay by Nina LaCour
- For a dark reinvention of the classic Christmas tale The Nutcracker: Hiddensee by Gregory Maguire
- For a whirlwind adventure with a smart girl and her devoted father: The Twelve Lives of Samuel Hawley by Hannah Tinti
- For a powerful and visceral road trip through rural 21st century America: Sing, Unburied, Sing by Jesmyn Ward
- For one of the greatest battles of all time: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling
- For a painful yet hilarious immersion in the life of a drug addict: How to Murder Your Life by Cat Marnell
- For a chance to see characters you love come into their own: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling
- For a book that will leave you feeling you too can do anything you put your mind to: GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso
- For a lighthearted jaunt through some historical fiction: A Most Extraordinary Pursuit by Juliana Gray
- For a heartfelt story of learning to accept yourself for who you are: George by Alex Gino
I absolutely LOVED both The Twelve Lives of Samuel Hawley and Sing, Unburied, Sing; and, of course, all of the Harry Potter books! This is such a fun list; I’m glad you had a great reading month!
